We provide installation instructions in hard copy with each shipment of replacement slings. There are different styles that require different instructions for installation. We are going to use the ONE-PIECE sling installation for this example. The replacement slings are a task to install. There are a few key steps that will help the task be easier. First, you will need to disassemble the unit and cut off the old sling. Thoroughly clean the frame unit as you would your automobile. This is a great time to apply a good coat of wax (any quality auto wax will suffice). The wax will help facilitate installation but more importantly protect your frame from UV light which can destroy your furniture over time. With the frames clean you are now ready to begin.

1) Lay the slings outside in the sun. This is a KEY STEP. They must be very warm and flexible. Leave the slings out in sun until you are getting ready to install. They do not need to cool off. Laying on the hood of a dark color auto is a good heat draw to the sling. In cooler months, you may put sling in dryer for just a minute. Care should be taken with dryer application as the plastics in the material can melt if subjected to too much heat.

2) Lubricate the frame with petroleum jelly (vaseline), silicone spray, liquid soap, or etc. This is a KEY STEP. Without lubricating the frame with one of the above, you will not be able to install the replacement sling. A good thin coat of lubricant is the key here.

From this step forward, installation can be slightly different depending upon the style of sling. We will use the one-piece frame style for example. Even though instructions are similar for all styles you should follow your instructions issued in your shipment.

3) You need a good working environment for the next step. Either an old table as shown above or lay down a folded up beach towel on the concrete, asphalt, or deck. Now retrieve one of the slings that are warming. Set the frame upright and open the pocket and start from top down. Use some muscle at this point. Pick up the frame and using a downward force, pound the frame onto the table while sliding the sling onward. This is a KEY STEP.

4) Make sure the sling is down as far as it will go on the frame. Take a "prying tool" such as a screwdriver wrapped in a terry cloth and pry the open sling pocket over each end of the frame on the bottom. Care should be taken as you can rip the fabric, so back off the muscle a little at this point. This is a KEY STEP.

Now straighten the sling around the frame so that the binding is straight. Punch holes through the fabric with a sharp object where the hardware will penetrate the fabric and assemble the seat frame back onto the base frame.
